We enable maritime technology startups to go global and gain access to finance

Thesis

Blue Alliance Partners (Blue Alliance) is a network of marine technology professionals, investors and founders focused on identifying and backing maritime innovation. Initially established as a go-to-market accelerator, Blue Alliance has since evolved to operate as a convener and investment syndicate.

Through its network, Blue Alliance brings together maritime, legal, commercial and investment expertise to support businesses developing technology for the maritime sector.

Geographic focus: Northern Europe and Greece

Long-Term Vision

Blue Alliance will continue to develop as both a convener and investment syndicate, bringing together marine technology professionals, investors, founders and businesses across the maritime innovation ecosystem.

More recently, we have seen increasing demand for a service-provider model under which legal, commercial, advisory and strategic assistance is provided to early and growth-stage companies in exchange for equity participation or stock options. This represents a potential area for the continued development of the Blue Alliance network.

Strategy

Blue Alliance supports and advises businesses applying technology to the maritime sector.

Operating as an investment syndicate, Blue Alliance brings together investors interested in marine technology opportunities. Members may take shareholdings in companies where they can add value through legal, commercial, advisory and strategic support.

Members of the network also make personal investments in selected businesses, often providing funding ahead of larger institutional or venture capital rounds.

Examples of the innovations being brought to market are:

  • Awake.AI - providers of an AI-enhanced digital platform connecting ship operators, ports and cargo owners

  • Seaber.io – providers of data-driven fleet scheduling and optimisation

Companies supported by the Blue Alliance go-to-market accelerator include Awake.AI, Seaber.io, HarborLab and Danelec.

Companies supported by the Blue Alliance network include Maritime Pay, Advanced Wing Systems and LomarLabs.

Founder, Anastasia Papadopoulou - Van Dijk has also supported Lomar Labs in developing its early-stage maritime investment framework.

Startup Support Programme

Blue Alliance does not operate as a traditional fixed accelerator programme. Having initially operated as a go-to-market accelerator, it has evolved into a network and investment syndicate through which marine technology professionals, investors and founders can identify and support promising maritime innovation.

Support can include legal, commercial, advisory and strategic assistance, as well as go-to-market support. Members of the network may also invest personally in selected companies.
