The Operating System for Bulk Shipping Analytics and Operations

Mission
To digitize bulk shipping operations through real-time analytics and automated laytime tools, enabling faster, smarter, and more transparent decisions.
Problem
Despite being a trillion-dollar industry, bulk shipping still relies on manual spreadsheets and email chains to track port operations, calculate laytime, and analyze performance; wasting time, money, and creating costly disputes between charterers, owners, and agents.
Solution
Port Scope is a cloud-based SaaS platform that automates laytime calculations, digitizes Statement of Facts (SOFs), and delivers real-time port performance analytics across the bulk cargo chain.
Key features or advantages:
Automated, laytime calculator (dry & liquid bulk)
Real-time port performance dashboards powered by agent-entered E-SOF
Collaborative platform connecting charterers, owners, agents, shipper/ receivers and terminals
Eliminates Excel and email dependency and repetitive manual processes
KPI visibility allows for better decisions reducing significantly operational costs
Reduces human error, demurrage disputes, and turnaround times
Network-effect growth model driven by customer ecosystem
Market Opportunity
Market size:
TAM: $5.4B: global maritime operations & logistics SaaS (Allied Market Research)
SAM: ~$1.1B: bulk shipping digital operations (Port, agent, charterer tools)
SOM: ~$300M – focused on laytime automation and bulk-port performance for dry cargo segments
Target customers:
Bulk Vessel Charterers (such as commodity traders, agri-food, mining, fertilizer, oil, LNG majors)
Shipowners / operators
Shipping agents
Port terminals
Bulk cargo exporters/importers
Go-to-Market Strategy
We acquire customers via:
• Direct sales and founder-led demos (leveraging deep shipping network)
• Strategic pilots with global charterers and shipping agents
• Network-based expansion (agents invite charterers, who invite owners)
• Presence in maritime VCs, conferences, and port innovation hubs
• Referrals, inbound interest, and use-case storytelling on LinkedIn.

Exit Strategy
Potential acquirers of Port Scope might include
Maritime SaaS leaders (e.g., Veson, Kpler, Marcura) looking to expand port/laytime capabilities
Data infrastructure platforms (e.g., ZeroNorth, OrbitMI) enhancing operational intelligence
Shipping conglomerates or commodity majors seeking vertical tech integration
Investment funds
Our plan is to establish Port Scope as the essential data and analytics layer in bulk-port calls, connecting fragmented players and providing standardized insights where none exist. Build defensibility through network effects and embedded workflows, making PS a high-value plug-in or acquisition for firms seeking end-to-end visibility and automation across bulk logistics. All of this while turning PS as number one dashboard for all the bulk port and maritime logistics chain.
